Seeking Living Kidney Donor: Bob Lindberg

Bob, our former Pastor, is a 74 year old Vietnam veteran and Episcopal priest. While in Vietnam, he was exposed to Agent Orange, which caused his kidneys to fail. Doctors say he is an excellent candidate for a transplant and have placed him on the national transplant list, but because of the wait time for kidneys (5-7 years) and the average life expectancy on dialysis (4 years), he is unlikely to live until his turn comes. A kidney transplant would increase his life expectancy to at least 12 years. The reality is that his only real chance is if a living donor gives one of their two kidneys to him; unfortunately, his family members have medical issues that prevent them from donating. All costs for a living donor are completely covered, and you can live perfectly well with only one kidney. Should you donate a kidney now and then later need a kidney yourself, you go right to the top of the list. The Mission of the Got Lunch program in the Jaffrey Rindge community is to ensure that all children always have access to a healthy meals.

The Got Lunch is a volunteer-run program and is funded through donations received from individuals, organizations and businesses in the community.

Recognizing that many children in the Jaffrey-Rindge school district are dependent on the healthy lunch program provided by the school to provide proper nutrition, but that no such program existed while school was in recess.

This program puts nourishing food in the hands of school children to carry them through the weekend. Each bag of food costs $10 each week and provides two breakfasts, two lunches, and three dinners for a child, with some left over to share!
