Advent Lutheran Church invites you to join us next Saturday, April 8, 2017 for Martin’s Table, a free community dinner launching our year-long celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. (Due to the surprise snowstorm, the dinner’s original date of today has been changed.) Homemade soups, stews, chili and breads, plus salads, desserts, and Good Lutheran Coffee will be served from 4:30-6:30 p.m. There might even be a photo op with Martin and the lovely Katarina Luther!
The Advent kids broke ground last Saturday for their new climbing mountain, the first piece of playground equipment to be installed at what they have named their ADVENTurers Park on the West side of the church property. The kids have been raising 100% of the money for the nature-inspired play area for almost two years now.
The playground crew worked all last weekend as well as Tuesday evening to dig the two four-foot holes with concrete footings necessary for the mountain. Another two work days are necessary before the climbing mountain will be installed and ready for play. Follow their progress in the ADVENTurers Park photo gallery!
No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. ~John 15:13
Members of the Advent congregation took part in Memorial Day observances around the Monadnock Region this past Monday. In Rindge, Pastor Bob Lindberg served as a guest speaker at the Memorial Day parade on the Town Commons. On the other side of the mountains, three Advent Kids (a Cub Scout, Webelo, and Scout-in-training seen here) marched in the Greenville parade with local veterans and the awesome Keene American Legion Band.
Advent is hosting a multi-family yard sale on Saturday, July 16 from 8:00 a.m. until noon. Spaces are available for Advent members and non-members alike for just $15. All proceeds go to the church’s general operating fund. Call the church office or e-mail the church Communications Coordinator via the online form here to reserve a space.
Live music and more! Advent will begin holding regular contemporary worship services starting Sunday May 22 at 10:00 a.m. The contemporary services will generally be the fourth Sunday of each month, but may occasionally take place on additional Sundays as well. Check out the calendar at right — and come see what’s new at the only ELCA congregation in the Monadnock Region!
Hiel Lindquist of Fitzwilliam was the lucky winner of Advent’s Treasured Chest, hand-crafted by our own Rev. Bob Lindberg. Hiel bought just one of the $20 raffle tickets, from our Evelyn Fogg at the Fitzwilliam Fair last summer. Congratulations, Hiel, and thank you so much for supporting our church and “Project Playground” in this way. Hiel says the chest is his until a certain daughter decides it’s time to get married.
