The Kids of Advent Break Ground on the ADVENTurers Park

Breaking ground on their ADVENTurers Park!
Breaking ground on their ADVENTurers Park!

The Advent kids broke ground last Saturday for their new climbing mountain, the first piece of playground equipment to be installed at what they have named their ADVENTurers Park on the West side of the church property.  The kids have been raising 100% of the money for the nature-inspired play area for almost two years now.

The playground crew worked all last weekend as well as Tuesday evening to dig the two four-foot holes with concrete footings necessary for the mountain. Another two work days are necessary before the climbing mountain will be installed and ready for play. Follow their progress in the ADVENTurers Park photo gallery!

No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. ~John 15:13

Members of the Advent congregation took part in Memorial Day observances around the Monadnock Region this past Monday. In Rindge, Pastor Bob Lindberg served as a guest speaker at the Memorial Day parade on the Town Commons. On the other side of the mountains, three Advent Kids (a Cub Scout, Webelo, and Scout-in-training seen here) marched in the Greenville parade with local veterans and the awesome Keene American Legion Band.

Single-Ticket Holder Wins Advent’s Treasured Chest!

TreasuredChestWinner_HielLindquistFitzwilliamHiel Lindquist of Fitzwilliam was the lucky winner of Advent’s Treasured Chest, hand-crafted by our own Rev. Bob Lindberg. Hiel bought just one of the $20 raffle tickets, from our Evelyn Fogg at the Fitzwilliam Fair last summer. Congratulations, Hiel, and thank you so much for supporting our church and “Project Playground” in this way. Hiel says the chest is his until a certain daughter decides it’s time to get married.

Children’s Choir Debuts at Advent

Advent now has a children’s choir! The young singers made their debut at the All Saints Day Service on November 1. They will continue to practice and perform in the coming months under the joint direction of Evelyn Fogg and Jeff Poston.

Singing is just the latest way in which Advent’s children are taking an active role in the worship service. This is the second academic year that the elementary and Confirmation class students have take turns serving as the crucifer and banner bearers on Sundays and for other services. Ben Bensinger made a special wooden proessional cross just the right weight and dimensions for little hands last year; and the pint-sized banners seen here that the children carry up the aisle are their own creations. Made in Sunday School as a surprise for the congregation, they debuted at the Easter service last spring.
